Of your choice
After
You’ve voiced it;
Once
You’ve moved on
From
The truth of the moment;

And in order to asses
The facts
In question
The marks
Of your options
Can be traced
Well on into the adopted
Space,

And though you can never
Win a minute back,
Or sever
Its tracks,
You can determine
Whether
It earned you
Pain or pleasure,

But if neither alternative
Is forthcoming
Then don’t relive
The violent drumming
Of the past
That chased
You to act
At such a prickly pace.
