Rarely amount
To anything
Is a lack of commitment
To the bits of them
That matter:
The chips that individually
Appear irrelevant
But together support the order
Of a secure future
And prop up
The opportunities above them.
And there’s no point
Denying the appliance
Of this logic,
Or its particular applicability
To your own
Unfulfilled situation,
Because the station
You’re sitting at
Testifies to the dryness
Of the mortar that you’ve tried
To force into
The cracks of your actions,
But try not to let its message
Tread all over your part
In the scheme of things,
As all you have to do
Is build more slowly
And lower your programmes.
